GECHEM proves that chemical-technical products can be produced in a way that is ecologically sustainable as long as you invest in the necessary competences and technologies. And this is exactly what we do because it is our deep conviction that “We only have this one planet.”
Own photovoltaic system with large storage facility
As early as 2007 we first invested in a photovoltaic system. Since 2022, 1640 solar panels have been installed on top of our factory buildings covering a roof area of 8500 square meters. This enables us to generate one megawatt of power per year. Currently, this equals around 40 per cent of the electricity that we need for our production and filling systems. A 250 kW storage facility supports and supplies our site in the case of emergency.
As we are striving to become a green and sustainable company, it is our vision to build our own agrivoltaic system to produce green hydrogen from the electricity we generate ourselves.
Production with 100% green electricity
At GECHEM we produce goods using electricity that originates one hundred per cent from sustainable energy sources. Some of it is generated by ourselves and the rest is bought in, in the form of green electricity. By doing so we help reduce our carbon footprint.
Charging stations for electric vehicles
These days, our electric cars at GECHEM can recharge their batteries with solar power. Currently, there are several charging stations for EVs. This is our contribution to help bring about the “Verkehrswende” (change in transport policy).
Ecological cultivation of open land
Our location in Kleinkarlbach is embedded between vines and forest on the edge of the Palatinate Forest Biosphere Reserve. The spacious open areas of our company premises are carefully cultivated by the Kleinsägmühlerhof farm with plenty of space for bees & co. The Demeter farm is part of the Lebenshilfe organisation in Bad Dürkheim.
Recycling broken tablets
To us sustainability also means a responsible and sparing use of precious resources.
Therefore, we are proud to be able to offer our customers a special service: We have developed a system that helps us reprocess, recycle, and reuse broken tablets for production rather than dispose of this resource at great expense.
